Another Scrap Happy

I am hoping to invite a few friends over for a cuppa and a chat. We haven’t been able to meet since last november due to health issues.

However before the invitaions can go out I want to make sure that everything else is ready.

This brought me to napkins and in turn led me down to seeing what is the difference beteween serviette and napkin? Which one is correct? From what I can gather in the USA napkin is the term that is used. In some countries, Australia and New Zealand serviette is used for paper nakins while cloth is napkin. In Many parts of Europe the paper napkin is ahuge industry with unusual napkins produced for every occassion.. In China where paper was invinted in the 2nd century small squares of paper were used when serving tea. while in France during the 18th century it was considered rude for the napkin to be used for cleaning teeth or for wiping the face.

However there is also now the question of “one use items” which are then discarded versus ones that can be reused after washing.

So you can see that my happy scrapping this month was to find scraps of langusge and see how they are used.

Enjoy your scraps
