Grey Autumnal Equinox
What an extraordinary month September has been. Temperatures up to 23C and suddenly plummeting to 16C. What is making that change of temperature in a day worse is the absence of sunshine.
That autumnal sunshine is very precious. It gradually leads us into the shorter evenings and the longer nights. The Autumnal Equinox 22nd September and the shortening of daylight hours.
This year it feels that it has come upon us very quickly and very sharply. The grey skies just emphasising the lack of light. The breeze has become colder and while earlier in the week it was soft and warm today it is cold.
The trees even seem subdued, as if they do not know how to deal with the topsy turvy weather we have experienced this year.
