Do you Send Them?
December has arrived and with it has come those advertisements. I am referring to the ones which urge people and companies not to send Christmas Cards but instead to support certain charities. A few years ago these ads used to irk me but now I just ignore them.
You see, I love the sound of the letterbox rattling. It heralds the opening of the post. There is something very special about a letter at this time of the year really at any time of the year. At this time though the chances are that it is a Christmas card.
There is the anticipation of the image of the card. That is followed by wondering who has actually sent it. And finally reading a letter or note which may have been included with the card.
There have been times when I have opened the card to find it from someone whom I hadn't sent a Christmas card to. Yes I still get embarrassed but I am also thankful that they have thought of me. They are immediately added to the list for the next year or if there is time I will post off a card to them.
So it is time to gather the Christmas Cards and spend a few evenings writing the cards and addressing the envelopes.
If you enjoy sending Christmas cards please ignore the ads or those people urging us to stop wasting paper. Sending a card to someone can brighten up their day, can help someone through what can be a very difficult time and can also help the sender.
