6th January
Traditionally by the 6th of January all Christmas decorations were taken down, boxed and stored away for the following year.
This year I have decided that the main decorations togethr with the christmas tree and lights will be removed. However those decoartations which are also holders for night lights will remian for a few more weeks.
January is firstly a long monor it feels like a very long month. It is invariably grey and dark with plenty of rain. Therefore there is a need for extra lights so those wee houses depicting a winter scene with room for a tea light will remian in place.
The fairy lights around the front door will also remain. There is something very welcoming about fairy lights so they will remain for another few weeks.
I suspect that a few of the Christmas mugs will find themselves still in use for at least another week. The colours are bright and a few of them feel more winter than Christmas so they will help ease the spirits on those grey cold January days.
Perhaps this will become a new tradition ot then again it maybe just a once off. At this moment in time the colours and lights are things I need to see.
Wishing you a very happy 2025.
