A Little Exercise

Do you like dancing? Are you a good dancer?

I love dancing but there is one slight flaw though, I have as the saying goes “two left feet”. I have the rhythm in my head and it doesn’t gor to my feet.

Many years ago I attended a workshop which was based around song and dance in musicals. After 2 days I was taken aside by the choreographer and told that I did have “Two Left Feet”. Since then I have avoided dancing in any form.

Last weekend I took part in a dance day held by my local ICA Guild. One of the members together with her daughter led the day. It was a line dancing workshop.

Oh my word but the craic was ninety as they say. Two brilliant leaders who had the patience of Job and led us through the steps over and over again. The dance steps were interespereced with much laughter and encouragement.

At the end of the first session we were all able to dance to Disco with the music of Abba keeping us in rhythm. Now to be honest I was on a total high. There I was at 65years of age and had just learnt a dance. It was definitley “Yee Haw “.

By the time we were sitting down to our well earned lunch we had learnt two line dances. Yes two line dances. The endorphins were buzzing as was the laughter and chat around the table. As is the case with any ICA gathering there were plenty of cuppas shared goodies and chat.

Our two line dancing tutors gathered us together for another session to learn a further dance. This certainly required more concentration for me. But then the music started playing and we were off to South America as we moved to the latin music.

If you are given the opportunity of trying something new or something that like me you have always wanted to try just go for it. You really have nothing to loose.
