I had a project which although was not very big in size is a very important project.. I had purchased a panels which I was going to turn into a tablerunner. However when I received the panel, it had been cut so badly I just didn’t know how I was going to use it. There was not a straight side to either panel.

I asked a few ofthe experienced quilters what I should do? They were all shocked to think a fabric shop had sold the fabric in such a dreadful state, However they were not going to let that hold them back.. Within a dhot time I had numerous ideas of how the table runner could actually be achieved.

I opted for one idea and to do it I was going to have to klearn appliqué. A new challenge which supprisingly was not daunting. I was given tips on how to just give appliqué a go without even looking at the panel. I also took the time to learn the various different stitiches I had on the machine. Now my machine is cheap and cheerful but I was really surprised by how many embroidery stitches I had..

By the time our first dinner was announced I had become familiar with appliqué. I decided to leave the experiment with the actual panel until the next day. That evening I returned to my scrap quilting project where I didn’t have to concentrate and could just enjoy.

Day 1 and through the genrosity of my fellow quilters I had learnt a new technique and had a plan of how to tackle my important project.
