It Had Grown
The excitment was building. The lists had been made. Now all that had to be done was load the car and head off.
Load the car? How had I managed to have so much to fit into the car. I was only going for three days. That was really two nights and there were three bags, three plastic storage boxes, a tote bag or shopping bag, a chair and a machine.
I was preparing for a quilting retreat with but my luggage seemed to have grown considerably. I didn’t remeber bringing so much last year or had I.
I wonder why I had so much? I had a few projects one of which I needed some help with. Then I also had another project which I had on hand for over ten years. the fabric I had initailly bought with a friend in mind but unfortunately she died and I hadn’t been able to look work on it. Perhaps this weekend would see a start on it? Then there was an ongoing project which seemed to never end but which I enjoy making.
As you can see I am very much a “just in case” person. All contingencies need to be covered. Perhaps I need to look at that? However, now was not the time. Now I had to manage to pack the car. The chair proved to be the most awkward thing to manhandle. It was weighty, had oil on it and it was unwieldly. Eventually with all the back seats down it someohow or other got in. The rest was easy peasy.
A beautiful spring morning and the wicklow country side looked beautiful. I was so looking forward to meeting up with the ladies. Having time to sew, quilt and chat what more could one ask for?
