A Few Days

I was away for a few days in East Cork. A beautiful part of the country. Now, it was wet and cold for the entire three days. It was that rain that seeps into the bones. So not the best of weather for walking. One just has to make the most of it.

To be honest I much prefer for the air to be cold rather than heat which just saps the life out of my body.

One of the days we made our way to Cobh. A beautiful town especially at sea level but those hills. Wow!!!! Walking those hills everyday would certainly keep the body in good shape.

A visit to the Titanic Experience was well worth the entrance price. The entrance ticket was similar to a voyage ticket and on it was the name of one of the passengers of the Titanix. At the end you could find out whether that person had survived or not.

Outside the original booking office was the remians of the walkway which the passengers would have walked prior boarding the tenders which brought them put to the Titanic. I found that part of a pier very eerie especially with wind driving the rain into my face.

What I liked about this experience as opposed to the Titanic Experience in Belfast was that it was more intimate and one was not bombarded by noise and information.

If you ever in Cobh I would definitley recommend it.

Beside the old booking office is a small park with wooden seats looking out into Cork harbour. The wind was swirling around and there was nowhere to shelter. However, loooking around I saw that the steps were made from brightly painted tiles. There was also a pole decorated with tiles. These tiles were like a beacon of light on a cold wet day. They seemed to me to be celebrating the lives of those lost in the Titanic disaster.
