Where isit all coming from?

I am getting ready to a quilting retreat. Now this is not my first one and I hope it is not my last one either. So, one would imagine I would have the packing of fabric, sewing machine and all the tems needed down to a fine art.

That would be the ideal. The reality is that the number of boxes has grown plus the number of bags. My quilting doesn’t follow the norm. I do not make blocks with those blocks being added together to form an overall design. I have made them however, there is a large but ……….

The but is that I don not enjoy making those quilts. I love to see them and can totally appreciate the work and endless hours that have gone into making a quilt. However a few years ago I found that ienjoyed random quilting. that is gathering scrafps of fabric and without a design or pattern just sewing them together. I just love the fact that there are no rules.

So, leading on from this I should have just a bag of scraps, thread, sewing machine iron, ironing mat and be ready to go. But no, there are all the items on the just incase list? I think that list has grown dramatically. Then there is the chair which has to come iwth me. Part of old age. also this year I am tempted to make a patchwork top for a single size quilt in black and white. The idea has been gradually maturing and perhaps I just might start it os it has to brought “just in case”.

So I am off to see if I can get everything into the car. My just incase items may have to stay at home if there is not enough room.
